Leaving the Past Behind: How to Heal from Past Trauma with Hypnotherapy

Healing from PTSD, shock, and trauma is possible with hypnotherapy

All trauma leaves behind scars that can impact your mental health, even if you are not consciously aware of the past events that are still affecting you. Carrying the constant weight of trauma can make it seem like you are stuck with no way out, but we’re here to tell you there are ways you can heal from your trauma. Keep reading to learn how to heal from trauma with one of the most effective methods available today-- RTT® Hypnotherapy.

First, we’re covering the basics: what is trauma, and what causes it?

What is Trauma?

Trauma is anything you experience in your life that creates overwhelming emotions that make it impossible for you to cope or feel safe. The feeling of helplessness that traumatic experiences cause can stay with you long after the traumatic event-- it’s a form of survival.

What Causes Trauma?

It’s a common misconception that trauma is only caused by life-altering events that leave you emotionally/physically wounded. While events like rape, death of loved ones, and experiencing abuse are generally easier to identify as the root of PTSD, they aren’t the only causes of trauma.

In fact, PTSD is sometimes so subverted that
many studies across the globe have shown there are likely mass amounts of the global population who are unaware they are struggling from past trauma (Megan DeBrabander, A Voice for the Innocent). The truth is, almost everyone has experienced some form of trauma in their life, and it can manifest in surprising ways.

Some of the more difficult-to-identify causes of trauma include:

  • Long-term Exposure to Stress - Any long-term stress that makes you feel unsafe and unsure of your security can stick with you and manifest whenever you feel out of control or stressed in your current life.

Examples
: Growing up in an unstable home, being stuck in a stressful job or education program, living with constant financial stress, and more.

  • Neglect - Feeling unwanted or unloved as a child can create trauma throughout your life. While there are abusive, easy-to-spot examples of neglect, you don’t have to have grown up with abusive parents to have experienced this kind of trauma. Simply being ignored, invalidated, or emotionally suppressed by parents can leave lasting trauma.
  • Other Significant Experiences - It’s important to remember that your trauma is your trauma: no matter how small or inconsequential an event may seem on the outside. When you aren’t equipped to handle the extreme emotions of some life experiences, trauma is almost always created.

How to Know if You Are Struggling From Past Emotional Trauma

Everyone has a different experience with trauma, and it’s important to talk with a mental health professional if you are struggling. PTSD can present as other mental illnesses, and it’s important to get a professional opinion when it comes to your mental health diagnosis.

That said, there are common symptoms a majority of those with trauma experience. Here are the most common symptoms of emotional trauma to look for:

  • Frequent mood-swings
  • Feeling confused or like your brain is foggy
  • Feelings of anxiety and depression
  • Difficulty doing simple tasks
  • Experiencing frequent feelings of guilt, shame, and inadequacy
  • Constant fatigue
  • Insomnia
  • Intrusive thoughts
  • Frequent muscle tension

What is the Best Treatment for Trauma?

According to licensed psychologist Dr. Susan Spicer, healing from past trauma is a process. It includes feeling safe and secure in your present life, acknowledging and coming to terms with the trauma you have experienced. She states that healing from trauma means building a “new sense of self,” in which the trauma is “no longer a driving force in your life” (Brains Potential).

There are many methods available for how to heal from trauma, such as
CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) and EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing). These therapy techniques can work well, but can take a long time and ongoing sessions for you to be able to see an improvement in your trauma healing.

Roots of Healing, LLC founder Tina Wankey has a passion for helping clients who suffer from trauma, shock, and PTSD. In her years providing holistic counseling and mental illness support, she has seen for herself what she believes is one of the fastest and most powerful ways to heal from trauma:
RTT®  Hypnotherapy.

What is RTT® ?

Rapid Transformation Therapy combines techniques and foundations from many modalities of therapy and hypnosis, working as a rapid means of healing, as the name suggests. We know what you might be thinking: how does hypnosis help with past trauma?

Healing from PTSD means addressing and understanding which moments or experiences are currently blocking your growth. Hypnotherapy can help you cut past your thinking mind and access your subconscious, allowing you to quickly and easily access any traumatic past events and feelings that you’ve kept internalized.

RTT hypnotherapy helps you to not only access these memories, but create a new narrative around them and begin the healing process, all in one session.

What Happens in a RTT®  Hypnotherapy Session?

A typical hypnotherapy service with Roots of Healing, LLC follows a structured, tried-and-true process. Sessions begin with a scripted hypnosis session unique to you and your goals and end with a powerful release and transformation meditation.

After the light, relieving feeling of releasing your trauma, you will also reinforce the healing messages you received through guided tranformational recordingmeditation and regular check-ins with Tina. The process is as immersive as it is simple, and it’s amazing how quickly those who experience a hypnotherapy service report feeling happier and free of their trauma.
